You may be thinking- “I don’t have to work out? This is awesome!”
Not so fast. There are some stipulations. Although some days, we need to look as peaceful as the sleeping otter in the picture.
Times You Should NOT Work Out:
1. You are too tired.
Now I don’t mean whiney and lazy tired. What I’m talking about is the weeks where it’s either 30 more minutes of sleep or a workout, when what your body really needs to avoid sickness is sleep. Don’t push yourself to get sick when you need sleep.
2. You are in pain.
There’s a difference between muscle soreness and genuine pain. Last week, I took a few days off from working out because my left knee was hurting again after feeling good for several months. Rather than risk injury again, I just rested and watched what I ate so I wouldn’t gain any pounds.
3. You should be somewhere else.
Don’t be so addicted to exercise that you let it take the place of spending quality time with the people around you. It’s too easy for me to demand a work out when I really just need sit on the couch with my fiance and chill out.
Note that there are only 3 things on this list, so don’t give up working out! But DO be alert to how your body is feeling and be willing to adjust your schedule for sleep, pain, and important events.
When you don’t work out, it’s okay… as long as you watch the food you put in your mouth.
